Yehre Suh, Director / RA / LEED AP BD+C

Yehre Suh is currently the Assistant Professor of Urban Design at Seoul National University, Graduate School of Environmental Studies and Partner of the Office of Urban Terrains. She has previously taught at Cornell University, Barnard College/Columbia University, City College of New York and the Pratt Institute.

Recent projects include the masterplan, concept design proposal for Maehyangli Peace Park, a previous U.S. army base in South Korea to be converted into an eco-memorial park in Hwasung Gyeonggido Korea, Landmark Facility Design proposal for the Dasan New City central park in Namyangsi Korea, as well as the International Competition proposal for the Nodeul Island in Seoul which received the Special Jury Prize. Office of Urban Terrains was also part of the preselected team for the International Competition for the Seoul Skywalk. Before establishing the practice in 2012, she was the Project Architect for eight years at Weiss/Manfredi: Architecture/Landscape/Urbanism for award winning projects such as the Olympic Sculpture Park in Seattle, which received the 2007 Veronica Rudge Green Prize for Urban Design from Harvard University and the Diana Center for Barnard College in New York City, which received the Chicago Athenaeum American Architecture Award in 2011. She was also the project manager for the master plan phase for the Taekwondo Park, Muju Korea in 2008, which was the winning project of an international competition.

Yehre Suh progresses theoretical and design investigations on architecture and the city as a means to investigate alternative spatial strategies and scenarios. Her work focuses on the social, political, economic actor capabilities of architecture and the urban environment and investigates possibilities of flexible and sustainable mechanisms utilizing artificial and natural ecological systems. She was awarded the Graham Foundation Grant in 2008, Cornell Arts Council Grant in 2009, 2010, Rotch Foundation Grant in 2012, and the ARKO Grant for Criticism in the Arts, SNU Promising Pioneer Research Grant in 2015. Her research work was part of the 14th Venice Biennale Korean Pavilion exhibition in 2014. She was also the curator of Asian Urbanism at the Asia Culture Center in Gwangju, Korea in 2015-16 and her book <Boundary Space Imaginary: Hysteria and Obsessions of the North and South Korean Border> is to be published in 2017.

Yehre Suh is a Registered Architect in New York and New Jersey, USA and is a LEED AP BD+C accredited professional. She received her B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Industrial Design from Seoul National University in Seoul, Korea and her Masters in Architecture at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
